泥酔中の朝鮮人を警察が保護したが、容態が急変して同日夜に死亡した。乗っていた自転車が転倒して肝臓が破裂したことが原因であった。
ところが、朝鮮人側は警察官の暴行により死亡したとデマを流し、約30名の朝鮮人が東成警察署へ抗議に訪れ、署員の制止を聞かずに署内に乱入しようとしたので、これを阻止すると、催涙ガス瓶を投げ入れたり、投石してガラス窓を破壊したので、被疑者3名を検挙した。
